This paper presents the progress of legislative work on the new Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on the quality of water intended for human consumption. The significance and scope of key changes as well as new obligations imposed by DWD on EU member states were discussed. In this paper has been pointed out, a need to most important amend the legal provisions, which should clearly define the responsibilities and obligations of individual stakeholders, and enforce the correctness of the operational processes of water supply systems in accordance with the principles of risk management.
