Abstract

The article presents the properties of the existing lightweight aggregates and lightweight aggregate made of plastic waste. The properties of aggregates, ie Certyd, Gransil, Perlite, Keramzite, Penostek and aggregates made of plastic waste, were summarized. The bulk density, water absorption, crushing strength and thermal conductivity were compared. The main materials for the production of lightweight aggregates were also presented. For a more detailed analysis, the properties of concretes made on the existing lightweight aggregates, i.e. density and compressive strength, were also compiled. Properties of aggregates and lightweight concretes were obtained in accordance with the applicable standards. The analysis showed that for structural applications (light structures) it is possible to use concrete based on ash-pore aggregate due to its high strength and low density. On the other hand, concrete made of Perlit and Penostek aggregates are best suited for insulating layers. In addition, the waste plastic aggregate has many advantages, both in terms of properties as well as environmental aspects.
