Abstract

The article presents the legal status of the requirements for hygienic air handling units. By analysing the requirements contained in regulations, the European directive and Polish standards, their completeness and the level of requirements were assessed. The reference to the records coming from foreign standards and guidelines made it possible to indicate the necessary requirements that are missing in national legal documents. The requirements for AHU manufacturers when obtaining a hygiene certificate in Poland were also addressed. In conclusion, it was stated that when designing air handling units, reference should be made to both Polish harmonized, as well as German standards and guidelines.
