The article presents the current state of sewage sludge management in Poland against the background of national and European conditions, taking into account legal, technological and statistical aspects. Based on data from Eurostat, the Central Statistical Office and the National Municipal Wastewater Treatment Programme (KPOŚK), a quantitative analysis of the production and management of municipal sewage sludge was made. The main problems and the quantitative potential of domestic installations for the recovery of raw materials and energy from sewage sludge were indicated. The necessary steps supporting the adaptation of sludge management to environmental goals and the circular economy were presented.
