The aim of the article was to define the scope of parameters of the outside air, which will create conditions of thermal comfort during the summer heatwaves for the purpose of designing cooling systems for external zones of human presence. Heatwaves are one of the threats that will get worse as the climate crisis progresses. The creation of thermal comfort conditions in an open space at extremely high air temperatures, especially in urban areas, is a significant problem that has not yet been developed in scientific materials. The analysis considers the effective temperature (TE) indicator, which will allow to reduce energy consumption for the air-cooling process. The obtained results are presented in the Molière diagram, which illustrates well the changes in air parameters also in the case of external zones. To cool the space outside the building, it is necessary to develop systems other than standard indoor cooling systems. Their key element may be the use of alternative energy sources for the production of cold, e.g. solar radiation energy or waste heat from municipal heat networks.
