Abstract

The article analyzes the impact of electricity storage on the profitability of a photovoltaic installation. The impact of the active capacity of the energy storage, the selling price of electricity and the power of the photovoltaic installation on the profitability of the investment was analyzed. As a result of the conducted analyzes, it was assessed that the investment in a prosumer photovoltaic installation integrated with an electricity storage and intelligent energy management system may be profitable, provided that part of the investment costs are covered from the subsidy from the „Mój Prąd” and thermo-modernization programs. It was found that an increase in PV plant capacity and energy storage capacity increases the payback time, and an increase in the selling price of electricity shortens the payback time, but only slightly. It has also been shown that there is an optimal electricity storage capacity. In the analyzed case, it was 3-4 kWh, which accounted for approx. 50% of the daily electricity demand of the analyzed facility. As a result of the conducted analyzes, it can be concluded that the investment in a system consisting of a photovoltaic installation integrated with an energy storage and an intelligent system for the flow of energy produced may be profitable provided that you take advantage of discounts and subsidies and appropriate adjustment of the PV installation power and energy storage capacity to the needs of the household. The profitability of investments will also be affected by changes in the sale and purchase prices of electricity in the future.
