The publication characterizes the methods of removing phosphorus compounds from municipal wastewater developed in selected research centers. The analytical part of the paper describes the methods of phosphorus sorption using carbonate-silica rock (opoka) and its derivatives and the Rockfos® material. This material was analyzed in several laboratories and in several wastewater treatment plants as a bed used to eliminate phosphorus compounds from treated wastewater flowing from hybrid constructed wetlands. According to the analysis, the Rockfos® material is highly effective in retaining phosphorus compounds from wastewater, which should make it practical in small and household wastewater treatment plants.
