The aim of this study is to evaluate the benefits of using trenchless technologies in pipeline construction, based on a case study of reconstructing an existing gas pipeline located along a provincial road. Currently, numerous trenchless methods are available, differing in construction approach, application range, and technical characteristics. This paper presents the most commonly applied solutions such as horizontal directional drilling, pipe jacking, and
microtunneling, as well as techniques used for pipeline rehabilitation. To conduct a comprehensive analysis, a land development project was prepared for the reconstruction of a steel gas pipeline into a new one made of polyethylene, considering two implementation variants: a traditional open-trench method and a trenchless approach. Based on both designs, a comparative assessment was performed, addressing economic, technical, social, environmental, and time-related factors.
