In the context of the planned extension of informing users about the amount of energy used for heating and hot water, the impact of the location of an apartment in the building’s body on the amount of energy used for heating was analyzed. The analysis was carried out for flats located on the ground floor, above the unheated basement, on the intermediate floor and in the attic. The results obtained for the front flats and those with one external wall were compared. The calculations were additionally carried out for the insulation conditions of building partitions applicable now and in previous periods (1976-1982, 2002-2008 and 2017-2021). The calculations used the number of degree days for Wrocław based on the data for a typical year published on the website of the Ministry of Investment and Economic Development. The variability of the number of degree days in years was also shown on the example of values measured at the Wrocław Strachocin meteorological station. The paper also discusses three methods of determining the number of degree days that can be used depending on the accuracy of the initial climatic data for a given location of a building object.
